Children’s Book Week – Give the Gift of Reading

We are celebrating Children’s Book Week (w/c 13/11/17). Our student librarian team have selected a number of books from the library which follow this year’s theme of ‘Escape to Everywhere’. Their display features books about evacuation in World War 2, alternative existences, exotic and far flung locations as well as hard-hitting topical subjects such as child soldiers in Africa. Any student who borrows a book from the library during Children’s Book Week will receive a raffle ticket and will be entered into a prize draw!

We are also launching our ‘Give the Gift of Reading’ initiative during Children’s Book Week. We are asking members of the Consett Academy community to nominate a student or friend who they think should receive a special book gift in time for Christmas. Nominations should also include a reason why the person they have nominated should receive a book. With this in mind we are asking our Academy community to donate new children’s books (appropriate for students aged between 11-16) before Friday 8th December*. Donated books will be gift wrapped and distributed to nominated selected students.

*Book donations should be dropped off with Miss Horth in the LRC
