Congraulations to Year 7/8 girls cricket team

Congratulations to our Year 7/8 girls cricket team who pulled off a phenomenal performance in today’s Derwentside School Games Cricket Tournament at Shotley Bridge Cricket Club by beating  North Durham Academy (NDA) by 30 runs.

Despite losing Captain Rebecca E for 0 in the first over; Harriett R, Katie S and Leah P scored quickly to drive Consett Academy to a daunting 75/1 off their 7 overs.

NDA started swiftly in their reply running fast singles to keep the run-rate to a manageable level. However, some wonderfully executed economical ‘line and length’ bowling from Sammi-L M and Maheen H meant that the pressure was firmly put on the batting side. Some death-defying diving stops from wicketkeeper Jess C and determined fielding from Leonie G meant that NDA fell well short on 45/5 in their reply.

The team will now progress to the County final in Billingham.

Fantastic result girls and good luck for the final!!
