Year 7 STEM Club Update

On the 6th December  our Year 7 STEM club enjoyed a visit from STEM Ambassadors at the School of Biomedical Sciences (Newcastle University) who conducted a fun, practical workshop to enhance our understanding of how the human body defends us from germs. Students rotated around a circus of activities which included designing their own bacteria, assessing their handwashing technique using a UV lamp and making fake snot!!

Did you know, on average a mobile phone houses more germs than a toilet?!

Also, Biomedical Scientists have discovered a huge number of new bacteria species in belly buttons.

Fascinating….but gross!!
