Running and Winning Design

In July, Blackhill Bounders Running Club approached the Academy asking for our help in running (do you like the link) a competition to design a t-shirt for their Annual Gibside Fruit bowl run. The competition was open to all year groups and ran for two weeks with 48 entries being submitted to the Club.

The judges task of selecting a winner was made very difficult as students had submitted some  excellent quality and varied range of creative design ideas.

Warmest congratulations goes to Harvey Gibson (Year 10 student) for the winning entry.

During a special presentation assembly Harvey was awarded a t-shirt of his own design and a £50 Intu voucher. Blackhill Bounders Chairperson, Joy Bell, came to present Harvey with his prize and explained to our year 10 students how Harvey’s winning design caught the essence of exactly what the race is about.  In addition, she shared how twenty years ago the Blackhill Bounders first Gibside Race was ran to help raise money to restore the orangery, and that is where the name ‘the Fruitbowl run came from.

Now all of the money raised from the run goes towards sports and recreation at Gibside.

Well done Harvey and thanks to Blackhill Bounders for giving our students this opportunity.

Any student who is interested in running can attend the Junior Bounders http://www.blackhillbounders.com/index.php/about/junior-bounders/ on Monday evenings @ 5.30 pm at Blackhill Park.
