Year 11 Extended School Day – ‘Period 6’

In order to support your son/daughter as they work towards their exams at the end of Year 11, we are introducing a ‘Period 6’.

This means that on a Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday we would encourage students to think of their school day as running from 8:30am – 4:30pm each day.   At 3:20pm, students will have the option to either;

  • attend support sessions ran by subject teachers
  • work independently in the LRC or Year 11 work area
  • in one of our computer areas

The aim of this extended day is to enable students to have access to staff for more individualised support as well as encouraging them to develop their independence in preparing for their exams.

Please see the timetable below of the subjects/sessions that will be running.

We hope that you will work with us in in partnership by encouraging your son/daughter to stay till 4:30pm on most evenings and particular those where specific intervention has been identified by a text message, letter or phone call.  Can I also urge you to encourage to your son/daughter to start revising now? Although we appreciate there are many demands on the students, the more that they revise now, the easier the months leading up to the exams will be.

If you have any questions regarding this offer, please do not hesitate to contact Mr Seed (Achievement Leader) or Mrs Moncur (Year Manager).
